Former Rocketeers take it to another level
Congratulations to Anthony Sherman (class of 2007)! Anthony’s football dreams took a major
step forward last week when he was drafted in the 5th round of the 2011 NFL draft (pick 136) by the Arizona
Cardinals.
We have all enjoyed watching Anthony’s journey from North Attleboro High School standout to Massachusetts
Gatorade Player of the Year to University of Connecticut captain to the National Football League.
Also congratulations to Robbie Vaughn (class of 2006). Robbie was recently signed by the
Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Eskimos.
We wish both Anthony and Robbie the best of luck and continued success!

MONDAY NIGHTS WITH THE COACH
Due to the Columbus Day holiday Monday Night Films with Coach Johnson is being moved to Tuesday night 10/12/2010.
Head Coach Don Johnson has agreed to continue a North Attleboro Football Tradition. Monday nights at 7:00 PM
at the high school (room 160) Coach Johnson will be reviewing the prior week’s varsity game film with all those
interested. All North Attleboro football fans and supporters are welcome.
THIS IS NOT LIKE WATCHING THE GAME ON CABLE. Coach Johnson breaks down the play, highlights matchups, explains
the strategy, shows opponents adjustments. and reviews results; good and bad.
This is a great opportunity to learn directly from the coach about the game and see what is really happening on
the field. Please join us and gain some insight into thought process, preparation, strategy, execution, and
results that make up a Rocketeer Football Game.
We hope to see you there.
Best regards,
Monday Night Gridiron Club

Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association Paul Costello Courageous Player Award
Congratulations to Danny Lang and Stephen Sellner. Both have been selected as winners of the 2010 Paul
Costello Courageous Player Award by the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) for the
courage they have displayed playing football while dealing with diabetes.
This award was created by Paul Costello; the longtime football coach and executive treasurer of the MHSFCA.
This award is presented annually to senior players who have played while physically challenged, enduring a
hardship, or in some way serving as an inspiration to their team. The players must have demonstrated –
teamwork, spirit and sportsmanship. The award is for young men who have played "Above and Beyond" and merit
special recognition.
This year's statewide twelve recipients will be honored at a banquet at Lantana's in Randolph on April 25th.
Red Rocketeers lose a heralded member of the Long Red Line.

The North Attleboro Community along with the Red Rocketeer football program wish to pass along our heartfelt
condolences to the family of Kyle Van De Giesen. The tragic news of his passing has left a void in many lives,
as not only was he a tremendous football player that wore the Big Red uniform proudly but more importantly he
was a tremendous leader that stoically wore our country's uniform. Kyle's younger brother Ryan (above, right)
will carry on the Van De Giesen name as he now prowls the sideline as an Assistant Coach for the Red Rocketeers. Our prayers
and thoughts are with Ryan and his family as they begin the healing process.
Kyle will be missed but never forgotten!

Red Rocketeers give back to the Community
When it comes to the support of a community, the Red Rocketeer High School football program can count
their blessings every year. With the economy the way it is and so many North families needing
assistance, the Monday Night Gridiron Club along with the coaches and players wanted to show their
gratitude and give back to the community. Using the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle at this year's
Mansfield game, the Red Rocketeers have made 2 donations to local charities. A $250 dollar donation
to Lenore’s Pantry and a $250 dollar donation to Christmas is for Kids. These funds will be used to
help restock the shelves with non-perishable goods for many North families and also provide toys to
the hundreds of underprivileged children in our area. Happy Holidays to all from Big Red Football!
